Happy New Year to you all! Let’s hope 2019 will be a
wonderful, healthy, year for all of us and our families!
Well, it’s that time of the year when we start gearing up for
our trip to the Hill and LTS! Please start planning on who will be
attending from your branches as March 10, 2019 will be here before you know
it. We have a lot of new congressmen around the State and one new
Senator. I have attached the list of all our congressional leaders, with
their office addresses in DC, party affiliation, and phone numbers. A
very good site to view all of their pictures and info is to go to www.govtrack.us/congress.
All of the info as far as booking your room and registration
information for the LTS is on the www.naps.org
web page. If you haven’t listened to the NAPS Chat – Weekly Podcast that
our new NAPS Director of Legislative and Political Affairs, Bob Levi produces,
you are in for a treat! I love the opening music and song! All
episodes of the podcast can also be found on the NAPS webpage, under
Legislative Center. So although we don’t know the specifics of our
Legislative Issues that we will be discussing when we go up on the Hill, we can
still call our congressman, talk to the scheduler, ask them how they would like
you to request a meeting on March 12. That’s a Tuesday and the best day
to schedule since Monday, March 11 we will be getting all of the important
information we need to be ready to plead our case to our congressional leaders!
Whether the scheduler wants you to email or FAX your request,
keep your narrative short and to the point. “We will be discussing
pertinent Postal Issues of grave importance within your congressional
district.” Since most of the schedulers will want to know what we
are going to be discussing. Do not use anacronyms, spell out National
Association of Postal Supervisors. If you need help in constructing your
narrative when requesting an appointment, please let me know and I will send
you a sample.
If you find that you don’t have the time to call and schedule,
let me know and I will do that for you, however, we have found that whoever is
going to DC would like to schedule their own appointments so it fits in their
groups preference. (Always nice to mix business with pleasure)! Washington
is a fascinating city!
If anyone has any questions or concerns, please contact
me. The sooner the better so we can once again have a smooth, organized
LTS.
Thank you again for making Florida Number One is SPAC!
Thank you for taking your time to attend this year’s LTS. I’m sure it
will be great!
Please share this message with anyone that I have omitted.
